Bitterness-free matcha and roasted hojicha for water or lattes

The Anatae Organic Matcha Cérémonie and Organic Hojicha Duo pairs two Japanese powdered green teas with distinct profiles. The set contains one 80 g pack of Matcha Cérémonie from Nishio in Aichi and one 70 g pack of hojicha from Shizuoka. Both can be prepared with water or milk, while the matcha is also suitable for baking. The duo is organic, gluten-free, and allergen-free.

What is included in the organic matcha and hojicha duo?

  • 80 g Matcha Cérémonie: 100% organic matcha green tea powder from Nishio, Aichi, Japan.
  • 70 g hojicha: organic green tea from Shizuoka, Japan, roasted and then ground into powder.
  • Two preparation styles: both teas can be served with water or made into lattes.

The Matcha Cérémonie is harvested and produced entirely by hand. It has no bitterness and received the Meilleur Produit BIO 2022 award. The hojicha undergoes roasting before grinding, which gives it toasted aromas associated with coffee, cacao, and hot chocolate. It is lower in caffeine than the matcha.

How do the matcha and hojicha taste different?

The Matcha Cérémonie offers a refined profile without bitterness. It can be served traditionally with water, combined with milk for a matcha latte, or used in pastries.

The hojicha provides the deeper roasted side of the pairing. Its coffee- and cacao-like aromas make it suitable for drinking with water or preparing as a hojicha latte. It can be served hot or cold, including at breakfast or as an afternoon drink. Oat milk is one suggested pairing for a drink reminiscent of hot chocolate.

How can each powdered tea be prepared?

For Matcha Cérémonie, combine the powder with a small amount of hot water at no more than 70°C (158°F). It can be mixed with a bamboo whisk, electric frother, blender, mixer, or shaker. Drink it with water or add plant-based milk to prepare a matcha latte.

The ground hojicha can also be mixed with water for a traditional preparation or combined with the milk of choice for a hojicha latte. Its roasted character works in both hot and cold drinks. Together, the two 150 g packs cover water-based tea, milk-based drinks, and matcha baking in one set.
