Who is Matcha Union?
Matcha Union is a London brand founded in 2020 by Louisa Birkhahn, working directly with growers in Uji, Shizuoka and Yame. The name refers to the union of tradition and modern ritual.
Its range pairs cultivar-named matcha with flavoured versions and matcha chocolate, shipped worldwide from warehouses in the UK, Germany and the UAE.
Choose matcha with a bamboo chasen for whisking or daily lattes
The Matcha Union Matcha and Chasen Kit pairs a choice of ceremonial or premium matcha with a traditional bamboo whisk. The two formats serve different preparations: one combines smooth, naturally sweet matcha with uses ranging from traditional whisking to premium lattes, while the other provides a full-bodied, bold matcha made for daily lattes.
Which matcha option suits your preferred preparation?
The ceremonial matcha is the more flexible choice within this kit. Its smooth, naturally sweet profile is intended for traditional whisking as well as premium lattes. The premium matcha has a full-bodied, bold profile and is made specifically for daily lattes.
Choose between these two bundle formats:
- Ceremonial 30g + Whisk: ceremonial matcha with a smooth, naturally sweet profile, paired with the bamboo chasen.
- Premium 100g + Whisk: full-bodied, bold matcha for daily lattes, paired with the same whisk format.
What comes in the Matcha Union matcha kit?
Each format contains one selected matcha and one bamboo chasen. The included chasen is a traditional whisk with 100 prongs and an engraved Matcha Union logo. It is intended for whisking matcha to a smooth, frothy consistency.
The matcha quantity depends on the selected format. The ceremonial option contains 30 grams, while the premium option contains 100 grams. Both formats combine the chosen matcha with the 100-prong bamboo whisk.
Ceremonial matcha or premium matcha for lattes?
The main distinction is the matcha profile and stated use. Select the ceremonial format for smooth, naturally sweet matcha suited to traditional whisking and premium lattes. Select the premium format for a bolder, full-bodied matcha made for daily latte preparation.
The Matcha Union Matcha and Chasen Kit keeps the choice focused on two matcha styles while retaining the same traditional whisk. The ceremonial format emphasizes smoothness and natural sweetness across whisked matcha and lattes. The premium format emphasizes a bold, full-bodied character for regular latte use.
