How cultivation influences content

Tea bushes intended for matcha are shaded before harvest. In a 2022 experiment, shaded Fuding white tea plants had more theanine than the open-air control. Both the plant material and growing conditions are part of that result.

A shade-grown label identifies a cultivation method, not a laboratory result for a particular tin. Likewise, ceremonial grade language does not itself state a measured L-theanine value. Compare quantities only when the product analysis and serving basis are clear.
