Hangzhou Zhiqinghe Tea Tech/Tea Pristine presentation

Hangzhou Zhiqinghe Tea Tech, operating as Tea Pristine, has cultivated excellence in organic matcha production since 1992. Founded by Yuan Shaohua in China’s renowned Hangzhou region, the company manages 133 hectares of certified organic tea farms where traditional wisdom meets modern agricultural practices. Their dedication to pure, chemical-free cultivation ensures every batch of matcha reflects the authentic character of premium Chinese tea.

Three Decades of Organic Farming Expertise

Yuan Shaohua established the company with a vision to preserve traditional tea cultivation methods while embracing organic certification standards. The 133-hectare estate operates entirely without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, allowing the tea plants to develop complex flavor profiles naturally. This multi-generational approach to farming creates matcha with distinctive taste characteristics that reflect Hangzhou’s unique terroir.

The farms benefit from Hangzhou’s ideal climate conditions—misty mornings, moderate temperatures, and mineral-rich soil—that have made the region famous for exceptional tea for centuries. Tea Pristine harnesses these natural advantages through careful crop management and selective harvesting techniques.

From Farm to Powder: Complete Production Control

Unlike brands that source from multiple suppliers, Hangzhou Zhiqinghe Tea Tech oversees every stage of production on their own land. This vertical integration means they control shading duration, harvest timing, and stone-grinding processes that determine matcha quality. The result is consistent, traceable products that meet strict organic standards.

Their portfolio extends beyond matcha to include traditional Chinese teas, all grown using the same rigorous organic methods. This diverse production demonstrates their comprehensive understanding of tea cultivation and processing across multiple categories.

Certified Quality You Can Trust

Organic certification represents more than a label for Tea Pristine—it reflects a fundamental commitment to environmental stewardship and consumer health. Their certification validates farming practices through independent third-party verification, giving matcha enthusiasts confidence in product purity.

The scale of their operation, combined with over 30 years of experience, positions them as a reliable source for buyers seeking authentic Chinese matcha with documented organic credentials. For those exploring matcha options on specialized marketplaces, Tea Pristine offers a compelling combination of heritage, scale, and verified sustainable practices that distinguish them in an increasingly crowded field.

Product Quality and Certifications

Their matcha products carry an impressive constellation of certifications including QS certification, BRC certification, EU organic certification, and USDA organic certification. These badges guarantee organic integrity and safety standards that go beyond mere compliance, ensuring consumers receive matcha that meets the highest international quality standards.

Production Excellence

The company’s matcha benefits from their meticulous approach to cultivation and processing. Their vibrant green matcha achieves its distinctive color and sweet, less bitter flavor profile through careful shading techniques employed before harvest. This traditional process boosts chlorophyll production, resulting in the characteristic emerald hue that matcha enthusiasts prize.

The production process likely incorporates both traditional and modern methods, with premium grades receiving special attention through selective harvesting practices. Their commitment to organic principles means every step of matcha production adheres to sustainable farming practices established since 1998.

History of Hangzhou Zhiqinghe Tea Tech/Tea Pristine

Hangzhou Zhiqinghe Tea Tech Co., Ltd., operating under the Tea Pristine brand, represents over three decades of dedication to organic tea cultivation and innovation. Founded in 1992 by Mr. Yuan Shaohua, the company emerged from deep expertise in tea processing technology and a vision to redefine organic tea production standards.

The company’s foundation traces back to Mr. Yuan Shaohua’s extensive background in tea manufacturing. In 1971, he joined Zhejiang Lin’an Tea Factory as a process design engineer and director of production technology. His expertise deepened through formal education at Anhui Agricultural University’s Tea Industry Department from October 1979 to February 1983, where he studied mechanical tea making under renowned tea expert Professor Chen Chuan.

In April 1992, Yuan Shaohua established Zhejiang’s first private tea research institute – the Hangzhou Lin’an Oriental Tea Applied Technology Research Institute. This pioneering move marked the beginning of what would become a leading organic tea enterprise.

The company’s commitment to organic certification began early, with EU, USDA, and BRC organic certifications initiated in 1998. This wasn’t merely compliance but a declaration of principles that would guide the company’s operations for over 26 years of continuous organic tea business.

Located in Nanshan Village, Yuqian Town in the Hangzhou region, the company operates a 133-hectare organic tea farm complemented by 6,000 square meters of primary and refinery factory facilities. The strategic location benefits from the unique microclimate that makes the region known as the “Capital of Tea in China.”

In 1998, the founder’s son Alex Yuan and daughter-in-law joined the organic tea business, continuing the family legacy while expanding international organic certifications to include Mexican LOAAA and other global standards. The company established its Zhiqinghe Company Tea House in 2022, featuring eight traditional Chinese tea rooms for client reception and cultural immersion.
