Green Caffeine emerged from a personal journey of transformation that began in 2021 when founder Leo reached what he described as rock bottom” after a decade-long coffee addiction. Exhausted and anxious, Leo discovered matcha as an alternative that provided steady energy without crashes or sleep disruption.

The Australian matcha scene in 2021 was lacking quality options, which sparked an entrepreneurial opportunity. After sharing homemade matcha with personal training clients who consistently asked where to purchase it, Leo and his partner Vicky conceived the idea of importing directly from Japan.

Building Quality Through Direct Sourcing

The founders conducted 20 taste tests before establishing partnerships with suppliers in Uji, Japan, the epicenter of traditional matcha production. Leo became deeply invested in education and storytelling, documenting the entire process while building a following of over 56,000 followers who learned to make café-quality matcha at home.

Vicky applied her business expertise to create a comprehensive customer experience, from sourcing to shipping, designed to exceed customer expectations. Their commitment to quality is reflected in their “keep it anyway” guarantee policy.

Geographic Evolution and Mission

Two years after founding, both Leo and Vicky left their careers and relocated from Sydney to Melbourne to focus entirely on Green Caffeine. This decision was driven by customer testimonials describing life-changing experiences and successful transitions away from coffee addiction.
